Every morning

Breakfast

Out the door 07:30 every day — breakfast is always out, near Takadanobaba Station. The same three places every morning: pick whichever the family fancies.

Komeda's morning set — toast, boiled egg and coffee
Komeda's — morning toast set
Yayoiken set meal — rice, miso soup and grilled fish
Yayoiken — rice + miso soup set
Matsuya beef bowl with miso soup
Matsuya — beef bowl set

Breakfast — three options, all on the walk to the station:
1. Komeda's (opens 07:00, Friend Building 2F) — Western café: toast + egg morning set with a drink, big booths seat six. ~7 min from the house.
2. Yayoiken (opens 05:00) — closest to Thai food: hot rice, miso soup, grilled fish and egg — the same shape as breakfast at home. Free rice refills, proper tables for six. ~2 min from the house.
3. Matsuya (open 24 hrs) — rice-bowl sets from about ¥300–500: beef bowl or salmon with miso soup and egg. Mostly counter seats, so six may split. ~7 min from the house.
Thai and Chinese places near the station all open at 11:00 — none can do a 07:30 breakfast, so these three are the morning choice.

🍳 Breakfast
Tuesday · Oct 20
Arrival day — Narita → private van → rest → Shinjuku
Arrive, take the confirmed van straight to the apartment, rest, the PASMO cards are bought at the airport, then do Shinjuku and Kabukicho after dark.
Estimated times — flexible on the day. Travel, queues and meals may shift these.
Arrival + first-day plan1. Airport formalities → 2. PASMO at Narita → 3. Private van to Home → rest → 4. Shinjuku early-evening walk → 5. Omoide Yokocho dinner → 6. Kabukicho / Godzilla Road after dark → 7. Don Quijote (optional) → Home
Working plan: Times are planning targets. The Getting there line is the recommended route; use the route buttons for the live Google time and exact path on the day.
H Home · 1 Narita Airport · 2 PASMO · 3 Van to the apartment · 4 Shinjuku walk · 5 Omoide Yokocho · 6 Kabukicho · 7 Don Quijote
Home = the apartment. Pins are numbered in the order you visit them, with the name on each pin. The line is an overview line, not exact tracks — use the route buttons on each stop for live directions.

1
06:20–07:45
A Arrive Narita Airport — immigration, bags & customs
AIRPORT

What it is: Airport arrival formalities before meeting the driver.

Getting there
  1. 1Land on TG640 at Narita Terminal 1.
  2. 2Clear immigration.
  3. 3Collect all luggage.
  4. 4Pass customs and enter the public arrivals area.

Plan: No rush this morning — breakfast inside Terminal 1 first, then the PASMO cards (next stop) before the van.

2
08:30–09:15
A Buy PASMO cards — Narita Airport Station (Keisei side)
STATION

What it is: The rechargeable IC card for every train, subway, bus and monorail in Tokyo — and for convenience stores. Buy the regular PASMO: ¥5,000 (฿1,060) = ¥4,500 (฿955) usable balance + a ¥500 (฿106) deposit. No passport or form needed — it is the anonymous card from the machine. It stays valid 10 years, so keep the cards: they are the family's Japan cards for the next trip too. One card per person — buy six (the girls, 13 and 15, use adult cards).

Getting there
  1. 1After breakfast in Terminal 1, follow the “Railways” signs down to B1F — Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station.
  2. 2Go to the KEISEI side of the station — PASMO is the Keisei/Metro card. (The JR side on the same floor sells Suica instead.)
  3. 3At a Keisei ticket machine, tap English first (bottom-left of the screen). Then: PASMO → Purchase new PASMO → Nameless Card → ¥5,000, and pay cash. “Nameless Card” is the anonymous one — no name, no passport. Buy six cards, one at a time — ¥30,000 (฿6,360) in total. If a counter offers “PASMO PASSPORT”, that is the 28-day tourist card — not this one; the machine sells the regular card.
  4. 4Head back up to the arrivals hall in good time for the 10:30 van.
In the airport · ~20 min

Plan: Cards sorted during the airport wait — every train ride of the trip is just a tap, and the same cards work on the next Japan trip. Running low later? Top up with cash at any station machine — look for the PASMO or Suica logo by the gates, tap English → Charge — or at a convenience-store counter.

3
10:30–12:10
A Private van from Narita T1 → apartment
PRIVATE VAN

What it is: Your confirmed private airport transfer to the Takadanobaba apartment.

Getting there
  1. 1From customs, go directly to the Terminal 1 International Arrivals Lobby on 1F.
  2. 2Meet & Greet is included in booking JXC377730. Pick-up is at 10:30 — PA Travel confirmed the change by email on Oct 16. Look for the driver with your name sign in the arrivals hall. (The Klook app may still show the 06:20 flight time — the operator's email is the agreement.)
  3. 3Be in the arrivals hall by about 10:25, luggage in hand — the meeting time is 10:30, whatever time the flight landed.
  4. 4If you cannot find the driver, check Klook or contact PA Travel at +86-13199575101.
  5. 5Load the luggage and go directly to 3 Chome-11-9 Takadanobaba, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 169-0075 (平井ビル).

Plan: Go straight to the apartment.

4
16:00–17:15
A Shinjuku early-evening walk
WALK

What it is: An easy first look around central Shinjuku while it is still light — station area, shops and city atmosphere.

Getting there
  1. 1Use the new PASMO cards and take the JR Yamanote Line from Takadanobaba to Shinjuku.
  2. 2GET OFF at Shinjuku Station and walk around the East Exit / station area.

Plan: This fills the late afternoon without wasting Kabukicho's neon atmosphere in daylight.

5
17:15–18:30
A Omoide Yokocho — dinner
WALK

What it is: A tiny old-school alley district beside Shinjuku Station packed with yakitori counters and little izakayas.

Getting there
  1. 1Walk from the Shinjuku East Exit area through the East–West Free Passage to the west side.
  2. 2Omoide Yokocho is immediately beside the west side of Shinjuku Station.

Plan: Have dinner here. If a tiny place cannot seat all six, choose a larger nearby place and still walk through the alleys.

6
18:30–20:00
A Kabukicho + Godzilla Road neon walk
WALK

What it is: Shinjuku's neon entertainment district — best after dark, when Godzilla Road and the surrounding streets are fully lit.

Getting there
  1. 1Walk about 10–15 minutes from Omoide Yokocho back toward Kabukicho.
  2. 2Walk Godzilla Road and the surrounding neon streets.

Plan: This is deliberately after dinner so it is properly dark.

7
20:00–20:45
OPTIONAL Don Quijote Kabukicho (Optional)
WALK

What it is: Huge Japanese discount store — snacks, cosmetics, souvenirs, electronics, toys and quirky Japanese items.

Getting there
  1. 1Walk a few minutes within Kabukicho to Don Quijote.

Plan: Easy optional stop if everyone still has energy; the Kabukicho branch is open 24 hours.
